Things to Look for When Shopping for a Permanent Makeup Artist

Things to Look for When Shopping for a Permanent Makeup Artist

1. Are they trained at a recognized training center by a certified trainer? I have been made aware of someone being trained by a video tape.

2. Do they have a certificate of training on their wall?

3. Are they "Certified" after being trained, with a Certificate on their wall?

4. Are they inspected by the State Health Department with a State Certificate on their wall?

5. Check the number of years they have been working. The date will be on their certificate.

6. Do they have "before" and "after" photos of their own work?

7. Can you speak with their former clients for reference. Ask for 4 phone numbers.

8. Is their work place clean and professional?

9. Do they look and act professional?

10. Do they test you with the pigment prior to procedure to make certain you are not sensitive to the pigment?

Verify all of the above. Remember, it is your face.

Don't choose your Artist by the price of the procedures alone. Many technicians charge more than I do and many charge less. The artistic ability of your technician is the determining factor of the final outcome. I have many clients who say they wish they had come to me first, before going to someone, where they weren't happy with the care and the final results, ultimately costing more in the end by needing corrections.
